"For the past few years I've been pondering the idea of creating a collection of animals that share a collaborative style. Offering the ability to share wall space in groupings. I know I'm not the first to create such a series however I didn't let that get in the way of me creating my own version. Each of these animals were chosen because of their character and style, abundance of hair or feathers, or possibly because of a personal connection. For instance, The Pony, was my daughters childhood pet "Sweetie" and The Rooster, was from one of my dear instagram followers."
Each of these pieces began with a solid black painted canvas. The backgrounds are layered with mixtures of neutral tones with cool greys and whites. The overall color palette is soft and subtle.
The original oil paintings are available for viewing at Bluerock Gallery in Black Diamond, Alberta.
Kristine loves capturing the expressions of animals on canvas. Her first art exhibit at the Leighton Art Centre sold her first chicken painting on opening day of the show. That was the beginning of an incredible journey of painting all kinds of animals.
