The Grace Collection

The Grace Collection is a series of figurative paintings.  Kristine selected three tones for this collection that combine both feminine and masculine qualities. 

Each piece begins as one of three tones as the background. The figure is then brought to life with layers by soft brush strokes. 

The inspiration for the Grace collection arrived early one morning shortly after Kristine’s vacation to Bali in 2019.  She was meditating and the word grace kept replaying in her mind. After a few days of studying, the practice of techniques became clear for the collection. 

Her painting process begins with a soft tone of opaque acrylic paint, then Kristine introduces soft brush strokes to shape the human form with many translucent layers of oil paint and glazing techniques to illuminate the light touching the skin. The subtle calm colours may appear as one, however the processed layers of colour collaborate and create a peaceful monochromatic tone. Kristine finishes each painting with a subtle matte finish intended to evoke a soft, tender, loving feeling when the viewer gazes upon each image. 

With each piece created for this collection the artist has experienced deep emotions, tears, and tingles or awareness throughout her entire being. Clearly this has transferred to the canvas as Kristine intends her viewers to be overcome with emotion as they experience her collection.
